Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds Soul gospel Jazz and R&B to create a unique mix. Avery Sunshine has appeared on Broadway as well as at various festivals across Europe as well as the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. While she is living in Atlanta currently, she is originally from Chester Pennsylvania. In Chester Pennsylvania she began her career as a musician by singing and playing at the church in town. After graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she began her musical journey on Atlanta's R&B musical scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single to feature her vocals was Stalk You A house 12 released only in Japan; it has since been remixed by a variety of producers and has become an essential part of her live sets. She also contributed to The Fighting Temptations soundtrack. In 2005, Tyler Perry hired her as the primary keyboardist in his stage play Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, who won Tony and Grammy Awards for her voice and her music, invited Sunshine to sing in the Dreamgirls show during the Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine gained national recognition for 4 performances a day during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was chosen to sing as part of President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
