Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is a American TV personality who is a chef, and a an instructor from the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at the Food Network. With her signature spiky blond hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides simple, easy-to-learn techniques to cook at home on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of the top restaurants located in New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy as well as competed in the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in the upstate of New York, Chef Burrell developed a passion for cooking and eating at an early age. The Culinary Institute of America sparked her interest in restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications diploma at Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I was awed by every moment." The Culinary Institute of the Americas was an excellent location to learn. After graduating, chef Burrell lived in Italy for a whole year studying at classes at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. She also worked in La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin star restaurant) located in Tuscany. While in Italy she was able to fully appreciate and understand the philosophies behind Italian culinary and cultural traditions that left a lasting impact in her viewpoint. Burrell serves on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board that helps brighten the lives of children who are struggling. She also is an Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation celebrity advocate in which she has a mission to raise awareness for juvenile diabetics. She is a frequent guest speaker at conferences and travels the country to mentor others in her task. Anne was always grateful that she had the opportunity to share her love of and her passion for cooking, with people around the world.
